Fly fishing is the most popular fishing method on rapids in central Finland. Brown trout is flyfishermens' most wanted catch.

Brown trout are shy and therefore you should approach the fishing ground ver carefully.

Areas above rapids, above and below stones, under fallen trees, and backflows are excellent Brown trout lodges. Places deep enough and sheltered places are excellent. The current does not have to be too swift in a lodge.

Fly-fishing season begins in spring when there are a plenty of pupas in rapids. This is an excellent season to fish Brown trout and grayling. This short season is usually in March but the time varies depending on weather. Best season to catch Brown trout begins in the beginning of summer when the flood season is over.

Brown trout is active in darkness. The best time to catch Brown trout in summer are the darkest hours in the night.It is possible to catch Brown trout also during the day in autumn and spring.
