ANGLING IN FINLAND

The traditional Finnish fishing with a hook and line is a nice way to spend a summer day. You're sure to catch something with this method.

It is possible to fish with a line a and hook on all lakes. It is possible to fish with a hook and line from a shore, a jetty or a boat. Nearly all companies in fishing tourism offer hooks and lines and angleworms. Perch, roach and bream are the most common fish that are angled.

If you use a boat for angling you should anchor your boat near the fishing place. An angleworm is set in the hook and the height of the bobber is adjusted to suit the depth of the water. The bobber signals you if a fish bites. You can also make the bait more attractive by pulling the line sometimes if the waves are not strong enough to do this.

Perch Angling in Finland

Angling is a nice way to spend a holiday day. Perch is the most important fish for anglers.

Perch swarms come to low waters to spawn in spring and that's the perfect time for angling perch. Perch go back into deep water in autumn. Rushy shores and ranges of rocks are excellent places to angle for perch. Quiet water areas are the best perch angling places in a river.

Bream Angling in Finland

It is excitting to angle for bream.

Bream use demersal animals as nutriment. You should sink your bait to the bottom when you are angling for bream. It is effective to use allurement baits after spawning. Bream bites very lightly and therefore it's not as easy to notice the biting as with other fish.

You can find bream in front of spawning bays in a depth of 2- 3 metres before and after spawning. At other times bream are often on the windy side of shores and islands. Muddy water can be a sign of a bream swarm looking for food.

Angling season begins early in spring and ends when lakes freeze. The best seasons to angle bream are before and after spawning. Mornings and evenings are the best bream angling times.
