Several rapid fishing grounds in Finland offer excellent possibilities for spinning. Spinning is possible on nearly all rapid fishing grounds. Brown trout and rainbow trout are fished with spinning tackles in running waters.

You should carefully approach the fishing ground when fishing rainbow trout. You should vary the colour and the swimming depth of your lures. You should also vary the reeling speed, for example, by using short pauses.
Areas above rapids, above and below stones, under fallen trees, backflows, and quiet water areas below waterfalls are excellent rainbow trout lodges.
Best time to catch rainbow trout in summer are the darkest hours in the night.It is possible to catch rainbow trout also during the day in autumn and spring.
Shallow-running lures of irritating colours, which imitates the bait fish, are use for brown trout on rapids in Central Finland. It is also possible to use weighed lures to reach the bottom on big rivers.
Ide favours slow-flowing waters like sounds with current and slow parts of rivers. You can also find ide near shores of a lake.
Ide bites all throughout the day.
Spinners with fly hooks are used to cast ide. A line-and-hook with a float is also used with casting tackles to catch ide. This method is prohibited in rapids and in lakes and rivers populated by salmon, trout and powan.
Casting is a popular brown trout fishing method in rapids. Casting is an excellent method to fish the whole rapid effectively. An small fish imitation lure is effective for big brown trout.

You must always pay National fisheries management fee 2024 if you are aged 18-64 years. National fisheries management fee entitles you to fish in the fishing waters within a whole Finland (not in Aland). Fishing Permit entitles you to fish using single rod, reel and lure. You may also use a weighted lure or diver. This fishing Permit entitles you to fish everywhere but not at protection areas (often special fishing grounds and salmon and whitefish abundant rapids and currents). You can often purhace other permit to those areas. Fee is 45 EUR for the calendar year 2024 or 15 EUR for seven days or 6 EUR for one days and and you can get it online here.
